For me what I don't like with Tiktoks is when we clearly know its an ad. But the creators act like the product is the best thing ever invited. Like calm down, you just put the product on 3 seconds ago. Can you give it a minute to dry. I love that the UA-camrs would go into detail about the product. It's really hard to get that vibe from Tiktok. And I completely understand why you and many other beauty gurus took an extended long break. In my regular life, I get bored if I do the same things over and over again. I can't imagine y'all doing it over and over again. Year after year. So glad you are back but please don't feel rushed to come back either. Your mental health is the most important, above anything else

I love longer form content! I'm not on tiktok and I honestly know a lot of people my age (early to mid 20s) that are moving away from tik tok/short form content in general. the grwm are so fun and i love watching them while i get ready or just how i relax

I miss product reviews. I want to see first impressions of new collections. Sometimes I need to watch a 12 hr wear test to know if I want to try a new foundation. Other platforms can feel a little too biased, like the algorithm is promoting UGC over honest opinions.

For me the switch to UA-cam and long form content came from a desire to get my attention span back. I noticed as my TikTok use increased my attention span and focus decrease and in my research this also unfortunately affects critical thinking and theory of mind as your brain gets used to make quick generalizations because it’s constantly inundated with new and doesn’t have time to process and digest. So I started using TikTok less and switch to more long form activities that have a slower dopamine hit like reading physical books (I still read ebooks but in the beginning it’s important to focus on physical books to retrain your brain to not read in Z order to F scanning patterns) puzzles, coloring books, crocheting, watching movies all without my phone (I put it in a locked timer box) After retraining my brain I switched back to long form video content (UA-cam) and I no longer get anxiety after the first 5 minutes or feel the urge to watch at 2x speed and I’m enjoying far more and like you said learning more then quick sound bites. I still use TikTok occasionally but now only 30 minutes a week versus previously at 4 hours a day 🥲 Glad you’re back and looking forward to more videos!
